This is due to its unsurpassed\ngravimetric and volumetric energy density. However, the production of Li-ion\nbatteries (LiBs) requires large amount of non-renewable resources (e.g.\ninorganic ores and petroleum based materials), energy, and toxic chemicals,\nwhich raise concerns about their environmental impact and resource depletion\neffect. As a result, research on organic battery electrode materials for\norganic Li-ion batteries (OLiBs) has grown with significant results.&nbsp;\nIron(II) benzenedipropiolate is presented and investigated as a potential\nnegative electrode material for OLiBs. This material undergoes a reversible reduction\nand oxidation, first, through the iron(II) ion to iron metal, and its\ncarbonyls.
