Berg<br>Title: Operando Analysis of Interphase Formation in Li-ion Batteries <br>Affiliation: Uppsala University<br><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Abstract<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nProlonging the Li-ion cell lifetime is necessary to\nreduce cost and environmental impact of battery ownership. A significant part\nof the problem, but also its solution, is the solid electrolyte interphase\n(SEI) on the negative electrode. Although required for a functioning cell, the\nSEI also consumes lithium\/charge and adds a Li+ diffusion resistance, which\nincreases upon cycling. Understanding the mechanisms behind specific charge\nloss and electrode impedance is crucial for improved battery cells. Considering\nthe complex dynamics of the SEI formation process, the nm-sized dimension of\nthis interphase, as well as the intermediacy and instability of many interphase\nspecies, operando analysis methods are preferred. Operando electrochemical\nquartz crystal microbalance with dissipation monitoring (EQCMD) coupled with\nsimultaneous electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) will be presented and\nshown to provide unique insights into the mechanical and electrochemical\nproperties of the SEI.\n\n\n\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/nordbatt.org\/2019\/program\/\">Full conference program<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Presenter: Erik J.
